Easy Penne Pasta With Cheesy Tomato Sauce

Run out of spaghetti sauce or you do not like spaghetti sauce? No worries, you can make this cheese sauce in less than 10 minutes, and trust me, once you try this recipe, you will ditch traditional pasta sauce because this is easy, fast, affordable, and delicious. Also, if you have a picky eater who does not like spaghetti sauce, then this recipe is for you.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Box 12 Oz Penne pasta
  • 1 Pound Chicken breast Finely sliced and cubed
  • 1 Can 14.5 Oz Tomato sauce
  • 1 Cup Mozzarela cheese Shredded
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan cheese Plus more for topping.
  • 1/3 Cup Heavy cream
  • 2 Tsp Garlic Minced
  • 1 Tbsp Basil You can use fresh basil or dried basil
  • 3 Tbsp Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper To taste

Instructions
 

  • 1- Cook pasta according to what's written on the package instructions.
    2- Meanwhile, heat a saucepan over high heat. When the pan is heated, add 2 Tbsp of olive oil. Wait until the oil is hot, but not burning, then add the chicken. Cook the chicken until it is cooked through and a little brown. Now season with a little bit of salt and pepper and remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
    3- Reduce the heat to medium-low heat. Add a little bit more olive oil to the pan. Add garlic, then sauté for about 30 seconds. Now mix in the tomato sauce. Cook for about 1 minute, then add the basil. Stir. Next, add black pepper while stirring. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce cook for about 2 minutes.
    4- Now, add the cream, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese and combine.
    5- Finally, add cooked pasta and cooked chicken. Gently mix everything until the pasta is well coated with the sauce. Remove from heat and let sit for about 5 minutes and serve.

Notes

  • Feel free to double the amount of the cheese if you want this dish to be even cheesier. 
  • Use Italian seasoning if you do not have basil. 
  • When cooking the chicken breast, wait until the meat is all cooked through before seasoning it with salt and pepper so the meat will not create moisture and harden.
