Ingredients needed to make tortilla bowl dessert:

Ingredients for tortilla bowl fruit salad dessert: strawberries, blueberries, sour cream, cream cheese, mint, a bow of tortilla bowl on a white surface

Old El Paso soft tortilla mini bowl: Flour, not corn. I prefer this Old El Paso brand more. The flour tortilla is soft, but it becomes crunchy when you bake it for a short time.

Low-fat cream cheese: To keep the recipe healthy.

Low-fat sour cream: To boost the flavor of the cream cheese.

Butter: The butter helps the tortilla bowl become crunchy and helps the sugar and cinnamon stick onto the tortilla bowl.

Cane sugar :Granulated white sugar to sweeten the cream cheese and sour cream mixture.

Cinnamon powder: For aroma and added flavor.

Pure vanilla extract: For aroma and to boost flavors.

Fresh berries: You can use any berries you have on hand. You can substitute it with frozen berries also. When you use frozen berries, the tortilla bowl dessert tastes like ice cream.

Caramel syrup: This is optional, but it makes the tortilla bowl dessert taste so good!

How to make a tortilla bowl dessert with cream cheese?

1- First, preheat the oven to 375°F (109°C) and melt butter in a saucepan or the microwave for around 30 seconds or more, depending on your microwave.

2- Then combine melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Using a pastry brush, brush each tortilla bowl with the butter and sugar mixture. After that, place the tortilla bowls on a baking sheet and then bake for 7-9 minutes. I like to leave mine in the oven for a little longer because I like the darker color and the shells’ crunchiness.

3- While the tortillas are baking: in a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, and vanilla with an electric hand mixer until they are smooth. Set aside.

4- After that, prepare and wash your berries. Slice your strawberry if you are using some.

5- Once the tortillas are ready, remove them from the baking sheet. Let cool off for a little bit, then scoop and spread 1-2 Tbsp of the cream cheese mixture inside the tortilla bowl. Then add your berries; you can create any designs you want. Then you can top it with caramel syrup or chocolate syrup, anything you want! It tastes very good too as it is.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes

The cinnamon will darken the tortilla bowl's color but don't worry, it is not burnt, and it tastes amazing!
